One of the late Hollywood movie star Paul Walker’s last ever action scenes was a memorable, high-octane battle with martial arts icon Tony Jaa in the blockbuster hit, ‘Furious 7’.

Walker tragically died at just 37 years of age in a single-vehicle car crash in 2013 before filming had concluded on the seventh installment of the wildly successful movie franchise.

However, this fight scene was already in the can by that stage, and as a fan of martial arts himself, there’s no doubt that Walker would have got a kick out of going up against Jaa in the film.

While Walker took an interest in various different martial arts and had been known to attend MMA events, his real passion was for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and he would often spent his free-time training under the guidance of his mentor Ricardo ‘Franjinha’ Miller at the Paragon Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in California.

At the time of his death Walker had already earned his brown belt, and at a memorial held by his family after he lost his life, ‘Franjinha’ awarded him his black belt posthumously.

On the other hand, Jaa’s background is firmly rooted in Muay Thai, which he began training in his native Thailand in his early teens, though he’d go on to study numerous other disciplines including Taekwondo, Judo, Aikido and Jiu-Jitsu.

While Walker had starred in a number of high-profile movies over the years, including numerous installments of the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise, ‘Takers’, ‘Eight Below’ and ‘Brick Mansions’, this was Jaa’s first time featuring in Hollywood, having previously made his name starring in cult martial arts movies, such as the seminal, ‘Ong-Bak’.

The fight between Walker and Jaa was a major moment in ‘Furious 7’, which would go on to become the highest grossing installment in the series to date and the third biggest movie of 2015, raking in a staggering $1.5 billion worldwide.
