Ronda Rousey vs Cris Cyborg, Fedor Emelianeko vs Randy Couture and Georges St Pierre vs Anderson Silva, these are some of the typical dream matches fans have conjured up over the years.
But have you ever wondered how a match between a trained fighter and a member of the animal kingdom would unfold?
In this edition of Sports Science, host John Brenkus and the crew want to fight out who really is the fastest of them all, so they setup a species VS species super fight to find out the answer by pitting a professional boxer Chad Dawson’s hand speed against a Western Diamondback Rattle Snake.
The Western Diamondback Rattle Snake is responsible for the most snake related deaths in North America, while Chad Dawson holds a professional record of 34-4 with 30 of his wins coming by the way of knockout.
So how is the team going to settle this bout? To test the snake they set up a balloon target so they can record the snakes top speed as it lunges toward the desired target.
For Chad his task is simple, a crash test dummy is set up for him to punch with the high speed camera timing how fast he can land his strike.
